Even as students we, Anne Horstmann & Dieter Erichsen, loved to organise and create experiences for and with other people. Our common love of Northern Germany and the curiosity of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern kept us focused and connected.

An Idea was born:

An event agency at the Baltic Sea. One that develops great events and incentive programs and implements them all over Germany. In June 1996, we moved from North Rhine-Westphalia to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Anne Horstmann founded the Event Agentcy adebar in Stralsund on 1 February 1997. In December that same year, we moved to Wieck located on the Darss peninsula, in a newly built house with six holiday apartments and an office.

In 1997, we organised group and youth trips as well as land excursions for cruise ships together with two employees as a Destination Management Company (DMC). In 1998, we organised our first corporate event – to be exact, a large water sports event – for 400 guests on the beautiful island of Rügen. This was followed by the continuous agency development of corporate celebrations and incentive trips. We actively participated in the development of the incentive and event market in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as the founding of the MICE cooperation "54 Grad Nord" (54° North) and were the founding members of Meet-MV.

We're Getting Better:

Team growth in accounting, office and project management. In 2007, we organised our first event with 800 guests, this time involving transfer logistics, supporting programs, location couting and much more. Our business partner, Dieter Erichsen, left the company at the end of 2011 and we brought in new project managers. In 2012, Britta Detlefsen became our Sales Representative in Copenhagen and broke into the Scandinavian market by 2015. Our own resources were expanded: From lounge furniture, sports equipment to decorations and team play modules.

Whatever You Do, Don't Stand Still!

In 2014, we converted the sales department with a new sales concept and mastered a difficult year. Since March 2014, we have been participating in the program 'rightandfair', the sustainability code of the German-speaking events industry. The capital office in Berlin was opened and our first trainee started working with us. The efforts have paid off. In 2015, we doubled our sales. After six years, Jörg Tesch left the agency and Kristin Teschner became our Deputy Managing Director and Authorised Signatory at adebar. The "1000 guest" milestone was cracked with a jubilee event in Hamburg in 2016.

Our team has grown with many incentives, team building events and company events. Today, 10 employees plus one cheerful office dog are working in our office in Wieck on Darss, Copenhagen and Berlin. Taking you behind the scenes at adebar: 2016 was all about optimising our business processes, putting strategic focus and preparing for our 20th anniversary as well as relaunching our website.

One thing has not changed in all these years: We have preserved the start-up community feeling. We're positive that you'll be able to feel the joy and passion that we put into all of our projects.

To date, we've created and implemented 990+1 events and incentives as a DMC. On 1 February 2017, we proudly celebrated 20 years of the Event Agency adebar. Event management brings people together; guests, clients, colleagues, partners and employees. People with whom we shared inspiring experiences for over 20 years. Their success stories make us happy and give us more ideas for motivating events and creative incentives.
