The Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (German Maritime Search and Rescue Service) is one of the most modern sea rescue services in the world. It is funded exclusively by donations and voluntary contributions. Along Germany's North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts, the rescue crews are ready for action around the clock, with a fleet of 60 rescue cruisers and lifeboats.
