At a glance

The Lower Rhine lies in the west of North Rhine-Westphalia and borders the Netherlands. The region has no clear geographical boundaries. The rule is simple: if you think you're from the Lower Rhine, then you are!

Every town and every stretch has its own history, landscape and cooking. That makes it hard to decide where your next incentive should take place. In the state capital Düsseldorf you meet in the middle of a lively big city.

So why not meet in the countryside for once, far away from the big cities? Transport links are very good and the infrastructure is in place. That makes the Lower Rhine an excellent choice for an incentive trip.

The Lower Rhine

  • First impressions

The natural and cultural landscapes offer plenty of activities beyond walking and cycling. With rivers, lakes and forests, there's never a dull moment. Food lovers are well looked after too. In spring the Lower Rhine is an asparagus stronghold, in autumn it is known for game dishes, and many farms sell regional produce.

  • Getting around the Lower Rhine

Countless cycle paths and well-developed local transport make it easy to leave the car behind.

  • The landscape

One of the most beautiful parts of the Lower Rhine is the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park. It covers 435 km² along the open border between Germany and the Netherlands. Its varied landscape and many species of animals and plants make it a popular place for day trips.

Forest, open meadows, pastures and fields alternate, crossed by streams, rivers, moors and lakes. It's a great place to switch off. Besides the signposted walking routes, there are nine certified premium trails, some of which cross the border.

They range from six to almost 19 km in length. The trails lead through forests and heath bogs, carr woodland and floodplains. Along the way you pass rivers, lakes and historic buildings such as mills, castles and manor houses.

What our clients say

  • The staff were thrilled with the team building activity “We build a raft as a team”, and after all the planning and building, three working rafts were launched onto the water. We felt superbly looked after in every respect.
