At a glance

The Mediterranean shimmers turquoise, Mount Etna rises large and dark, and lemon and orange trees fill the air with their scent. Every cliché fulfilled? Yes! Sicily lies at the southernmost tip of Italy and is just two to three hours' flight from Germany. The island appeals to all the senses.

On the lava fields and on Etna, there is plenty to marvel at and hike. The sea and the varied coastline are best experienced from a boat. The volcanic soil produces excellent wines and flavourful fruit and vegetables. Add fresh fish and seafood, cooked the traditional Italian way and given a modern twist.

After a day full of action comes the dolce vita on balmy summer nights.

Sicily, "O sole mio"

  • Getting there and getting around

You land in Palermo, Catania, Trapani or Comiso. In some cases Reggio Calabria is also an option. The flight itself is an experience. In good weather you can see Etna or, above the Aeolian Islands, the active volcano Stromboli. Direct flights to Sicily include departures from Frankfurt-Hahn, Nuremberg and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden.

  • Sights

Sicily has many sides. Monumental Greek temples tell of the island's colonisation by the Hellenes in antiquity. Then there are natural spectacles, idyllic islands and lush vegetation.

The north is home to major sights and some of Sicily's most beautiful beaches (opens in a new tab). Many highlights are easy to reach along the well-connected coast. The west is known for its beaches and its azure sea. In the east, you will find beautiful old towns, well-equipped beaches and impressive natural wonders.

  • Mount Etna

Etna is Europe's mightiest volcano. At 3,357 metres, it dominates Sicily's east coast and can be seen from far away. Things regularly get dramatic on its slopes. Earthquakes shake the region, clouds of ash darken the sky and lava flows destroy houses high up on the mountain.

Etna often erupts several times a year and is constantly monitored. Its eruptions draw onlookers from all over the world. At night, the fiery plume can sometimes reach several hundred metres high.

  • Fertile soils and nature reserves

Around Etna, the soils of lava rock and volcanic ash are often very fertile. Citrus fruits, figs, olives and vines grow particularly well on its slopes. The miles of sandy beaches on the south-west coast are protected, for example in the Riserva Torre Salsa nature reserve. Many consider them the most beautiful on the island.

  • Good reasons for Sicily

Sicily has around 1,000 kilometres of coastline. Hold your team building on one of the most beautiful beaches. Jump into the turquoise sea, go snorkelling or waterskiing, and let your team grow closer along the way. With our experience in Germany and abroad, we support you every step of the way. All you have to do is enjoy the Sicilian sun.

What our clients say

  • The fact that the equipment van was broken into and all the kit for the event was stolen is force majeure. No event runs exactly to plan. Improvisation is everything, and at our event adebar GmbH had to master this supreme discipline within 3 hours. Thank you so much for this incredible troubleshooting!
