At a glance

Munich has many sides, and that is exactly what makes it such a strong choice for an incentive. The Oktoberfest, Nymphenburg Palace, the Viktualienmarkt and many other sights attract more than a million tourists every year. The city feels like a modern metropolis. In its historic centre, on the other hand, you can sense tradition and history.

Between activities you can try Bavarian cooking. That includes the Weißwurst (white sausage), invented in Munich in 1857, the Leberkässemmel (a meatloaf roll), the Brezn (pretzel) and of course Munich beer.

Munich, the cosmopolitan city with heart

  • Getting there

You can reach Munich by train, by road or by plane. Almost all trains and many coaches stop at the main station, the city's most important transport hub. From here all the S-Bahn lines as well as buses, trams and underground trains run out to the districts.

Munich's central bus station is one of the most modern in Germany and is connected to a Europe-wide long-distance coach network. Munich Airport is the second largest in Germany. S-Bahn trains or shuttle buses take you from there to your hotel.

  • Culinary delights

Munich immediately brings to mind Weißwurst, Leberkäse, Brezn and Obatzda (a spiced cheese spread). If you're in Bavaria, you should try them. Main courses are meat-heavy and come with plenty of gravy and potatoes in every form.

A cold beer in a genuine Bavarian beer garden goes with it. On a warm summer evening there's no better place to round off the day.

  • Oktoberfest

"O'zapft is!" (It's tapped!) With this cry from the mayor, the Oktoberfest, the largest folk festival in the world, begins every year. Millions of people from all over the world travel to Munich for it. They come for the beer and for the special atmosphere.

Locals affectionately call the festival the "Wiesn", because it takes place on the Theresienwiese. For more than two weeks there's a party every day, in almost 40 beer tents and with over a hundred rides. Despite its name, the Oktoberfest starts at the end of September, because the weather is usually better then.

  • Munich on foot

You can cover the old town and the Glockenbach quarter on foot in around four hours. Around Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt there is plenty of regional, seasonal and fresh produce. The English Garden is one of the largest urban parks in the world.

  • Why an incentive in Munich?

Munich has many faces. It is a real big city with a strong offering of food, culture and nightlife. Yet it has a cosy charm, far from the hustle and bustle of other metropolises. That suits groups of every age and size, and there are programmes with a team building element for everyone.

  • The fact that the equipment van was broken into and all the kit for the event was stolen is force majeure. No event runs exactly to plan. Improvisation is everything, and at our event adebar GmbH had to master this supreme discipline within 3 hours. Thank you so much for this incredible troubleshooting!
