At a glance

Warnemünde is the seaside resort on the doorstep of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. It has a lot to offer for conferences and incentives: modern conference hotels, a long stretch of fine sandy beach, a wide range of venues and water sports of every kind. There is just as much to do on land.

The town lies right at the mouth of the Warnow. Large cruise ships dock at the pier, and not only in summer, just a stone's throw from the Alter Strom canal. This is where life happens. You stroll past small shops, restaurants and cafés and watch the fishing cutters and excursion boats.

From the lighthouse, the path runs parallel to the beach into the coastal forest west of the town. There is a golf course and a bouldering hall too. Along the Warnow, modern shipyards line the way towards Rostock. Is this the right place for a team building event? We say yes. Warnemünde is our second home, and we know our way around.

Getting to know Warnemünde

The Baltic seaside resort of Warnemünde is a district in the north of the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Together with Diedrichshagen, it forms the Warnemünde city area. Its name comes from the mouth ("Mündung") of the Warnow into the Baltic Sea. Danish documents first mention the town in 1195, and it has belonged to Rostock since 1323.

For centuries, Warnemünde was a small harbour and fishing village. Around 1821 it began welcoming bathers. Today, Warnemünde Week and Hanse Sail take place here every summer, each attracting around a million people. Warnemünde is also Germany's most important cruise port.

  • Hanse Sail

Hanse Sail is an annual gathering of traditional sailing ships. It is part of the Baltic Sail series, in which traditional ships and tall ships call at various Baltic ports in summer. Every year on the second weekend of August, sailing ships, cruise ships, ferries and other large vessels come to Rostock. The cruise port is busy then. There is also a festival with plenty of culture and entertainment.

  • What makes Warnemünde great for incentives

Many people call Warnemünde "Berlin's harbour". Once you have dug your toes into the sand here, you will come back. At 150 metres, the beach is the widest on the German Baltic coast. Add to that the historic old town and good food. Warnemünde has become a second home for us adebars too, and we keep bumping into many of our clients on the beach.

  • Getting there by train

The most convenient way to travel is with Deutsche Bahn via Rostock to Warnemünde. At the terminus you step out right by the Alter Strom and are in the thick of it straight away. Together with Deutsche Bahn, we offer an exclusive deal for travel to and from conferences in the Warnemünde area. You can use the journey to work, read or relax.

  • Clean beaches and clean water

Warnemünde has been awarded the "Blue Flag" (opens in a new tab) several times, an environmental label for clean beaches and good water quality. In high season the beach is cleaned every day, and three times a week in the off-season. This covers around 7.5 kilometres from Diedrichshagen to the west pier and from the east pier to Markgrafenheide (Rosenort).

Depending on the season and the weather, 1 to 4 tonnes of rubbish are collected every day. Your team can lend a hand here. With a joint beach clean-up, under the motto "no plastic for the fishes", it becomes a shared team activity.

  • Getting around by bike

Warnemünde lies on the Baltic Sea Cycle Route (opens in a new tab). As one of the European EuroVelo (opens in a new tab) routes, it circles the Baltic Sea.
