Rostock, a Hanseatic city with history

The pastel-coloured and red brick houses date from the 14th and 15th centuries. Back then, the Hanseatic League controlled the trade routes along the coasts of Northern Europe. Today, Rostock is easy to reach via Berlin and Hamburg airports, by motorway or via Rostock-Laage Airport.

City life revolves around the city harbour. It is a promenade, a place to meet, a trading hub and the home of AIDA.

  • Warnemünde and Hanse Sail

The seaside resort of Warnemünde at the mouth of the Warnow is Germany's most frequently visited cruise port. The biggest event is Hanse Sail, which draws millions of people to the harbour every year. Up to 300 large ships, sloops, cruise ships, ferries, museum schooners and yachts gather here.

We show you the city fortifications with their wall towers, St Mary's Church and the Stone Gate. And on top of that, "our Rostock": maritime and often surprising.

  • The city on the Warnow

The Warnow divides Rostock. On the left bank lie the modern city centre with its historic core and the city harbour. Since 1991, this has been the venue for Hanse Sail and other well-known festivals such as the Christmas and Easter markets. Culture and music have their place too, above all the Norddeutsche Philharmonie orchestra.

In 2018, Rostock celebrated its 800th anniversary and hosted Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Day. So the city knows how to party. There is as much room for sophisticated culture as for action-packed water games, and the two combine well into a company celebration.

  • What is an incentive trip?

Companies use incentive trips to spur on or reward their employees. Often they are also a thank-you to customers. An incentive trip motivates people to perform better and strengthens existing customer relationships, and many companies combine both in one event.
