  • Kiel Week: Around three million visitors come to Kiel Week every year in the last full week of June. The sailing regatta has been held since the 19th century and is one of the largest sailing events in the world. Kiel also hosted the Olympic sailing competitions in 1936 and 1972.
  • Maritime highlights: For even more sea air, visit the Maritime Museum, the Laboe Naval Memorial and the lighthouses at Kiel-Friedrichsort and Kiel-Holtenau. Or step aboard the museum ship U 995, a submarine from the Second World War.
