Sailing as a team, a team event on the Baltic Sea, water sports

Sailing as a team is sporty team building on the water. It is a great fit for corporate events and company outings. Only if everyone works together will your team stay on course and cross the finish line in the regatta.

Our fleet of catamarans and sailing yachts is moored in Warnemünde harbour. On request we can also provide your fleet at many other locations. Each sailing boat takes 6-7 people.

First, the skipper gives each team on board a safety briefing. In the first 2-3 hours you practise manoeuvres such as tacking and gybing and learn the basics of sailing. After that there is a lunch break or coffee and cake, on board or on land.

Then things get sporty once more: line up for the regatta! The course is marked out by buoys. A support boat, which also serves as the safety boat, gives the starting signal and marks the finish. After the awards ceremony, a traditional "Anlegerbier" (a beer once you are moored) rounds off the day.

An experienced skipper teaches your team the basics of sailing. Then it competes in an exciting regatta. On board, everyone works hand in hand and gets to know each other better.

Groups that have been working together for a while can take a fresh look at their team goals and consolidate them. Everyone is in the same boat and holds the course together. It is hard to find a better picture of team building.

What is the goal of the "sailing as a team" team building event?
"Sailing as a team" strengthens team spirit and communication in your team. Sailing together and racing in the regatta build collaboration and cohesion. On top of that come lots of fun and a touch of maritime adventure. It is a great fit for corporate events and company outings.
Where does the team building event take place?
As a rule, we start and finish in Warnemünde harbour. But we are flexible and can also hold the event at many other locations of your choice. Get in touch and we will sort out the location for your event.
How long does the team building event last?
In total, the event lasts about 4-6 hours. That includes the welcome and briefing, the safety briefing by the skippers, practising sailing manoeuvres, the regatta and the awards ceremony at the end.
Is sailing dangerous, in our experience?
The safety of participants is our top priority. Before casting off, every skipper gives a detailed safety briefing. You practise all manoeuvres under expert guidance. During the regatta, a support boat accompanies the event and also serves as a safety boat.
How is the team event handled in adverse weather or other unforeseeable circumstances that could endanger the safety of participants and boats?
The safety of people and equipment takes priority at "sailing as a team". In adverse weather, in the event of damage or other hazards, the skippers may change the destinations and the ports of departure and arrival. They can interrupt the trip, carry out repairs, return early or adjust the departure and arrival times. If the team event is not possible due to force majeure, for example storms of force 6 or above, flooding or mechanical failure, we will organise an alternative where possible in consultation with you. Participants are covered by passenger liability insurance. On board, however, each person is responsible for their own actions and safety. If a participant causes damage, they must pay for it themselves.
How many people can take part in the team building event?
The event can be flexibly adapted to different group sizes. Our sailing yachts and catamarans have room for 6-12 people per boat. A sailing yacht usually takes 6 people, and a catamaran 8-12. For larger groups we charter several boats at once. For one large group we once hired up to 18 sailing yachts and 2 tall ships at the same time. Whether it is a small team of 6 or a group of more than 100 participants, adebar will find the right boats.
Is the "sailing as a team" team event also suitable for people with no sailing experience?
Yes, no sailing experience is needed. The skippers teach the basics and guide the participants through each manoeuvre. Everyone can join in and contribute to the team's success.
What do participants need to bring?
Please bring clothing suited to the weather and flat, non-slip shoes. Sun protection and a hat are also advisable. Life jackets are provided on the yachts.
How is the team building activity supervised?
Experienced project managers from the event agency adebar and the skippers supervise the team event. They accompany the participants the whole time and make sure everything runs smoothly. As a full-service agency, we take care of the entire project management.
Is there catering on the yachts?
There is no catering on the yachts as standard. But we are happy to organise it for you. Picnic baskets with sandwiches, fresh fruit, sweets and soft drinks are popular. Individually put-together packed lunches or coffee and cake for a break on board or on land are also possible. Just tell us what you would like. We take care of the details so that your team can enjoy the day on the water.
How expensive is a yacht?
The cost of a sailing yacht varies greatly. It depends on the booking period, the number of yachts and the location, among other things. Then there are berthing times and transfer costs, especially if the yacht does not start from its home port. Transfer costs arise for moving the yacht to the desired location and back. Because we can provide yachts and catamarans at various locations, we can respond flexibly to your wishes.
