At a glance

Typical SPO: St. Peter-Ording lies on the west coast in Germany's far north and stands for a fresh breeze and company outings with a view. On the extra-wide, endlessly long sandy beach, the motto is "arrive and breathe".

The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and perfect for long mudflat hikes. The landscape changes every day with the tides. Twice a day high water floods the mudflats, and at low tide they are exposed again. Sky and earth seem to touch here.

Does your team want to take it easy or really let off steam? St. Peter-Ording suits both, in every season.

Getting to know St. Peter-Ording

  • Where is St. Peter-Ording?

St. Peter-Ording lies just under 140 km north of Hamburg. The town is lively and proud of its traditions at the same time, and its extra-wide sandy beach is full of energy. The North Sea Cycle Route is considered the longest signposted cycle route in the world. It leads straight to St. Peter-Ording and runs for around 300 km through Schleswig-Holstein.

  • The Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site

Ever wanted to walk across the seabed? In St. Peter-Ording you are right in the middle of it. The tide turns roughly every six hours, and the wide landscape and North Sea air help you unwind.

In 2009 the Wadden Sea was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than 10,000 animal and plant species live across its 441,000 hectares. A visit is always worthwhile: barefoot in summer, in wellies in autumn.

  • Lighthouses

In Westerhever on the Eiderstedt peninsula stands what is probably Germany's best-known lighthouse. It is both a navigational mark and an attraction. The tower, almost 41 metres tall, stands among salt marshes close to the outer dyke and can only be reached by bike or on foot. On a clear day, the view from the surrounding platform stretches far across the land.

Right in St. Peter-Ording stands the Böhl lighthouse from 1892. As a cross-mark and orientation light, it marks the Eider fairway.

  • The three landscape zones

Dunes, salt marshes and woodland shape St. Peter-Ording. The bracing climate and the natural surroundings are particularly well balanced here and are therefore strictly protected. A walk along the surf is an experience for all the senses: wind and waves carry the salty North Sea air far across the beach.

  • When is St. Peter-Ording worth a visit?

Pretty much always. In summer and autumn alike, nature puts on a show here. adebar knows the programmes that work on this changeable west coast and plans your incentive together with you.
